Eastern Zone Rugby

T2 Week 8

This week was a busy one for SPS sports teams.  On Tuesday the Eastern Zone Rugby tournament was held at Dunkirk Reserve.  We were able to enter an open girls' team, an open boys' team and an unders' team.  We were the school with the most represented teams entered - a great achievement!

The weather played its part and all the teams enjoyed the competition.  Our girls placed second and our open boys team came first, beating Point England in the final.  Congratulations to you all.  This now means that the Open Boys go on to the Interzone competition to be played in week 10.

A huge thanks to Mr C and Mr Timo for coaching the teams.  All the lunchtime practices paid off!  And a big shout out to Oriana-Sensei and Miss Courtney for being the girls' coaches on the day - not to mention Oriana-Sensei's famous brother Roimata - back in NZ for a break from his professional role as a rugby player in France.  Only the best for SPS!

Our new uniforms

T2 Wk 7

Just a short and sweet post to say 'how cool do our Yr 6 Sylvia Ferns look in their new netball uniforms!'    They look more than cool....they look sensational!

And our Yr 6's went on to draw against the club side Nga Whetu 7-7.  At least we managed to dodge the awful weather that night.  Not so lucky were the Maroonettes, our Yr 8 girls side.  They played on regardless - and unfortunately went down 8-9.

Keep up the great work everyone!
